Children’s Holiday and Recreation Association (Slovenian acronym: ZLRO), the founder of which is the Association of Friends of Youth Ljubljana-Centre, has been operating as a non-profit organisation since 1961 (until 1992 under the name of the Association for Vacations). Since 2015, ZRLO has also been a voluntary organisation and has the status of a public interest organisation in the youth sector.
Activities of the association include organizing and carrying out holidays, winter holidays, trips, children’s social activities, as well as organizing and carrying out outdoor schools and other educational and recreational activities in holiday homes.
We also dedicate a lot of our time to working with young people who would like to try themselves as educators or children´s animators. We invite them to join ZLRO Educator’s Club, where they can gain or improve their skills as educators and animators on holidays, winter holidays, in holiday childcare, at various events and other leisure activities for children through various education and training courses, socializing with each other, and exchanging experiences and good practices.
We manage holiday homes in Slovenia (Piran, Zgornje Gorje near Bled) and Croatia (Poreč-Špadiči, Savudrija,Umag). Our guests are children and young people from all over Slovenia, Austrian Carinthia, Northern Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and even Russia. The total capacity of holiday homes is 685 beds, which are primarily intended for children and youth up to the age of 18.
We strive to provide children and youth with a beautiful and carefree holiday, where they can relax and socialise, and at the same time have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of fun, exploratory, creative, and sports activities. Our main advantage is the ability to adapt to the different requirements of groups and, of course, the quality of the programs themselves.
The owner of holiday homes is the Municipality of Ljubljana.
The main activity of Children’s Holiday and Recreation Association is the organisation and implementation of summer and winter camps as well as other extracurricular activities in five holiday homes in Slovenia and Croatia.
We work hard to provide the users of the facilities we manage with interrupted work within the framework of mandatory contents or offer them a wide range of diverse programs for actively spending their leisure time in the form of discovery, exploration, socializing and recreation.
